As you can imagine after competing in dog shows with two labs for 4 years, approximately 40 times in the show ring, my family is a little immune to the sights, sounds and “ambiance” of the dog show.
Lately a couple people have expressed concern about excitement in their dog when visitors come to the home.
At the last dog show I attended in Dallas, I visited a booth sponsored by The Responsible Pet Owners Alliance. I brought home some of their material and found an interesting study on why dogs end up in shelters.
Growing up, I was a girly girl. I was always in dance class, never on the field or court. I never thought of myself as a person who would take part in a “sport”.
